Job Description

The Maintenance Worker, in conjunction with the Facilities team, is responsible for performing and if needed, coordinating the basic Facility maintenance and repairs at all locations.

Essential Job Functions

  • Ability to perform and diagnose basic electrical repairs (changing ballasts, replace GFCI, light switch etc.)
  • Ability to analyze, troubleshoot and perform basic plumbing repairs (replacing wax ring, aerator, faucets, toilets, stem valve etc.)
  • Knowledge of a Computerized Maintenance Management System desired
  • Must be able to use basic hand tools and specialized tools as appropriate (impact driver, sawzall, grinder, sander etc.)
  • Perform basic repairs including, but not limited to, carpentry, HVAC, locksmith, masonry, painting, drywall repairs and graffiti removal fixture assembly and equipment repair.
  • Promptly respond to written and verbal work orders, including completion date, follow-up, etc.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and protocols enforced by Goodwill Ind. and OSHA.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of tools, equipment and repair/replacement parts on assigned service vehicle
  • Report all hazardous conditions or general safety needs to appropriate management
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

Job Requirements:

  • Two years of building maintenance experience
  • Must be reachable by cellular device throughout shift with availability to be on call 24 hours
  • A team player that is a highly disciplined, problem-solver with a strong work ethic
  • Knowledgeable of circuit breakers, sprinkler system shut off and gas valves
  • Able to lift 50 pounds or more
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Basic written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to anticipate and quickly adapt to changing needs of the work environment

Education, Certificates, and Licenses:

  • High School Diploma or GED Certification,
  • A valid Californias drivers license as required by law (or the ability to obtain a license within 6 months of hire.
  • Ability to be insured by Agencys insurance carrier
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certifiable

  • The work is not sedentary and requires standing and moving for long periods of time.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently sits, uses the telephone and personal computer with a VDT screen for extended periods of time.
  • Work is performed in indoors and outdoors and requires local travel between Goodwills administrative offices, retail locations, and production areas. The office noise level is usually low. The retail and production noise level is moderate.
  • Occasional lifting and carrying equipment and tools and other articles or items weighing at least 50 pounds.
