Job Description

The Learning and Development Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, coordination and assessment of employee training and development needs. This position will consult with all levels of management to assess performance and recommend effective learning paths delivered through various structured and blended learning environments: instructor-led, virtual instructor-led, and e-learning/self-directed learning. Responsible for the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of training content for one portfolio of internal learning curriculum programs and courses. This position reports to the Vice President of Mission Advancement.


  • End-to-end design, facilitation, coordination, and management of learning programs, including training for new staff, and ongoing development for managers and all other staff
  • Consulting with managers and executives to identify and assess training needs and opportunities, and to develop and/or curate trainings to meet those needs.
  • Responsible for the selection and maintenance of a Learning Management System
  • Track results of the training program through employee engagement surveys, surveys and interviews of trainees, and/or objective outcomes as appropriate.
  • Monitors training evaluations and perform data analytics/metrics to ensure appropriate training solutions are provided.
  • Facilitate employee trainings in partnership with other instructors and managers.
  • Publish and maintain learning and development announcements and communications via intranet site and manage the scheduling, delivery, and completion tracking of training via the Learning Management System.
  • Manages financial, reporting and related requirements associated with training program grants and contracts. Prepares internal and external reports.
  • Hires, trains and supervises Instructors and other professional staff assigned.
  • Works in coordination with Human Resources and Senior Managers to support the ongoing performance management process as well as support and monitor the performance review process.
  • Partners with Senior Managers to develop and support employee development plans and other learning and development initiatives to enhance employee performance and contribute to a highly engaged and developed workforce.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years of experience in Learning and Development management, training delivery, instructional design, professional coaching, or equivalent
  • Track record of developing and/or running successful training programs with quantified results
  • Demonstrated understanding of best-in-class teaching/coaching techniques for adult learners
  • Strong project management skills such as planning, documentation, execution and implementation – detail oriented, tracks tasks and handles multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent scripting and storytelling skills
  • A growth mindset and a passion for helping people continuously improve
