Job Description

The IT Systems Analyst designs, develops, launches, and supports efficient business systems to optimize operations, with a focus on business intelligence and Goodwill’s Triple Bottom Line (People, Planet, Profit). This role requires a comprehensive understanding of Goodwill’s business policies and procedures, as well as strong expertise in business intelligence platforms, SQL database administration/reporting, and overall demonstrable commitment to maintaining a sound, secure information technology environment.

Accountabilities:

  • Work with assigned line of business division to gather and translate complex business and IT requirements into cost-effective, operationally supportable solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as a key driver of change within Goodwill, by researching and recommending short, medium, and long-term optimization enhancements, acting upon C-Suite Approvals and stewarding inter-departmental education to support timely and effective business improvements.
  • Gather, analyze, and determine data requirements in support of the Business Intelligence, including overall coordination of the BI platform, interface, and back-end databases.
  • Research and resolve data load (ETL) issues from the different data environments; create and maintaining information requirements repository, including all associated metadata; ensure overall systems continuous improvement.
  • Deliver relevant and actionable insights through the analysis of different data sets; Create reports, dashboards, and documents to fulfill basic information requests.
  • Document specifications for business intelligence or information technology (IT) reports, dashboards or other outputs.
  • Assist business units with information in the use of the available information delivery alternatives (e.g., canned reports, dashboards, self-service analytics tools, and data extracts); Design and implement technology best practices, guidelines and repeatable processes within the BI environment.
  • Assist in preparing detailed specifications for database/BI proposals to design, code, test, debug, document, and maintain database entities. Peer/Vendor code reviews and inspections for the purpose of program optimization and accuracy.
  • Provide technical assistance and cross training to other team members.
  • Responsible for the establishment and ongoing maintenance of an effective system of internal control within the scope of assigned job responsibilities.
  • Review and analyze the effectiveness of existing systems and develop strategies for improvement. In addition, coordinate upgrades of existing systems with new release levels and application of corrective service to fix systems defects with IT Support team members.
  • Manage as directed the coordination of vendors, sales support, accounting, and warehouse team members.
  • Conduct training programs and steward change with employees to educate other lines of business staff, support personnel, and systems operators on newly released or updated systems.
  • Create and maintain project support documentation such as meeting minutes, issues lists, task lists, and project schedules. In addition, provides functional and technical documentation for other engineers and support analysts.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred and/or 3 to 4 years of business analysis, operations research, or project management experience.
  • Strong financial/analytical skills, with an aptitude for understanding the business environment and translating business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Strong administrative/operations background and a working knowledge of Windows-based computer programs, MS Office and order/inventory software.
  • Strong understanding of work-flow, process improvement, and efficiency, solid knowledge of underlying statistical theories. Manufacturing / Engineering Industry experience is highly preferred.
  • Excellent communication with great organizational and people skills (verbal & written); the ability to comprehend complex business needs, and willingness to work in both technical and non-technical teams.
  • Strong time management skills and multi-tasking capabilities.
  • Ability to learn business rules governing multiple businesses and systems.
  • Ability to learn and master new software technologies and products.
  • Proficient in requirements gathering.
  • Be able to present ideas and technical solutions effectively through presentation and written communication.
  • Sound business fundamentals experience. Provides timely and informative follow-up to users.
  • Proficient use of Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, and Project.
